A FUNNY STORY

It was a gloomy night at the end of September. I hurried home. All of Nõmme smelled of apples. Quite close to my house stood a group of boys. When I passed them, the eldest shouted: "Hey, let's go steal some apples…"

"Let's go!!", I said.

We came to our garden. The boys picked apples in their laps, I in my skirt tails and right here, on the street by the light of the lantern, we divided the apples into five piles as was proper.

When we left, I walked with them, past our garden gate, and then turned into a side street. Having made a circle around the block, I came home.

My daughter Eva-Maria, asked, when I was putting the apples on the table: “What are you laughing at?”

“I went apple scrumping.” And I told her the story.

And what happened the next day… ?

She told her classmates at school that her Mom went to the apple scrumping yesterday…

And she laughed, because everyone said: “There is no such Mom! “
